Anyone can call themselves a massage therapist

Thursday, 7 December 2017 10:12

It’s true. Anyone can call themselves a therapist as it’s not a protected job title like a doctor or a physiotherapist. Ever been for a treatment somewhere and not been asked for your medical history? I have, and until I became a therapist myself I never gave it a second thought. Then when it came to getting my own insurance I started to think differently, because in order to qualify for insurance I had to provide copies of all my qualifications, and to continue to qualify, I have to take a medical history from my customers. If I fail to take this information, my insurance is invalidated. If you haven’t been asked for your medical history or filled out a medical questionnaire, they’re probably not insured and best avoided.
