Acupuncture Faq
Can dry-needling be used to help quit smoking or for weight loss?
No. For this, you would either need someone trained in TCM or in acupuncture for those reasons.
What does dry-needling do?
It helps problematic muscles reconnect with the brain and encourages your body to heal itself.
Does acupuncture hurt?
The sensation of acupuncture can vary from person to person, but it’s generally quite painless.
What conditions can dry-needling acupuncture treat?
That would be quite a long list, but it’s particularly good at treating pain, even if that pain is quite intense.
Is there any scientific proof that dry-needling works?
Yes, plenty. It was literally developed by scientists for the purpose of treating pain and muscle knots.
What if I’m scared of needles?
An acupuncture needle is nothing like a hypodermic needle, they are much, much smaller. The needles we use are 0.25mm thick. That’s about twice as thick as a human hair.
Is it safe?
We jolly well hope so. All needles are new and sterile. They are never reused and disposed of immediately after use. Any therapist performing acupuncture as part of your treatment would be qualified and insured to do so.
