Injury Therapy

Taking the guesswork out of therapy.

Injury Therapy in Bedford

At The Body Sage Clinic in Bedford, Injury Therapy is our go-to treatment for people in pain who want a clear, effective approach without needing to guess which therapy they should book.

Injury Therapy sits between massage-based treatments and our more structured Injury Therapy Plus service. It is best described as advanced sports massage for injury, but without the confusion that often comes with that label. These sessions are designed to assess your problem, apply clinical reasoning, and use the most appropriate hands-on techniques to help you recover.

It is suitable for acute injuries, long-standing pain, recurring problems, and issues that have not fully resolved with massage alone. You do not need to be sporty, active, or injured in the gym for this to be the right choice.

All Injury Therapy appointments are only carried out by experienced therapists.

What is Injury Therapy?

Injury Therapy is an injury-focused treatment that goes beyond standard massage. Rather than sticking to a single technique, your therapist assesses how your injury presents on the day and applies the most appropriate tools based on their training and experience.

An Injury Therapy session may include hands-on massage, myofascial release, cupping, muscle scraping or GuaSha, dry needling acupuncture, mobility work, and practical advice to support recovery. Not every session includes everything. Treatment is tailored to what is most likely to help you improve.

Exercise and rehabilitation work may be suggested where appropriate. These are optional, but people who follow the guidance provided often recover faster and more completely.

The aim is simple. Reduce pain, restore movement, and address the underlying cause of the problem rather than just easing symptoms.

How Injury Therapy compares to our other treatments

Deep Tissue Relaxing Massage
This is our standalone deep tissue massage option for relaxation and general muscle tension. It’s a firm, no-nonsense massage that draws on techniques from sports massage and holistic therapies such as Swedish massage and acupressure.

It’s ideal if you enjoy strong pressure and want to unwind, but it’s not intended for injury diagnosis or complex pain problems. Mild aches, and everyday tension are suitable, anything more involved is better suited to Injury Therapy.

Deep Tissue Sports Massage
This option is designed for active bodies. It uses deeper pressure and sports massage techniques to support recovery, manage training load, and maintain performance.

It’s not injury treatment, but it is more purposeful than relaxation-based massage. If you train regularly and want your massage to support your activity, this is usually the better fit.

Sports Performance Therapy
Sports Performance Therapy is a non-injury, performance-focused treatment for active people who feel restricted, inefficient, or held back by movement limitations rather than pain. It uses deep tissue techniques alongside mobility work, movement assessment, and hands-on therapy to address functional issues that affect training quality, performance, or recovery.

This option is ideal if you’re training regularly, feel something isn’t moving or loading as it should, but don’t have a specific injury that requires Injury Therapy or Injury Therapy Plus.

Injury Therapy & Injury Therapy Plus
Both of these services use deep tissue massage extensively, but within a more structured, clinical framework.

If you’re dealing with ongoing pain, recurring problems, or injuries that haven’t responded well to massage alone, Injury Therapy or our top-tier Injury Therapy Plus is usually the most effective route. These sessions combine assessment, hands-on treatment, and aftercare rather than focusing on massage alone.

If you’re unsure where you fit, there are no wrong answers. We can always adjust what we do to suit your needs.

IS THIS THE RIGHT TREATMENT FOR YOU?

If you are dealing with pain and are unsure which treatment is right, Injury Therapy is the safest place to start. It removes the need to guess and allows us to adapt the session to what your body actually needs. Choose the option that feels closest, we will guide the rest.

FAQs

Still have questions? Call us for a quick chat.

Sports massage has become a broad, unclear term that means different things in different clinics. Injury Therapy is our way of being clearer. It is sports massage only better, because it allows us to use other therapies when they are appropriate and when the therapist is trained to do so.

No. Injury Therapy is for anyone in pain, regardless of how the injury happened. It does not matter whether your problem came from training, work, daily life, or something you cannot pinpoint.

Sessions may include massage, myofascial release, cupping, dry needling acupuncture, muscle scraping or gua sha, mobility work, and practical advice. The exact approach depends on your problem and the therapist’s training.

Yes. Your therapist will assess how your injury presents and use that information to guide treatment. This is done efficiently within the session so treatment is not delayed unnecessarily.

If you are in pain and unsure which treatment to book, Injury Therapy was created for exactly that situation. You do not need to diagnose yourself or understand therapy terminology.

If your therapist feels you would benefit more from Injury Therapy Plus or another approach, this can be discussed and adjusted.
